The MURMUR Report 2025 shows that a conventional PVC vinyl record generates approximately 0.93 kg of CO₂ per unit.At the same time, the music industry has committed to substantial emission reductions by 2030.

EcoRecord replaces PVC with PET, a material already established in functioning recycling cycles.

What began with the EcoRecord is continued by the EcoCD.
Together with Warner Music, Coldplay sets new benchmarks for Moon Music – as the first 140g EcoRecord LP (made from recycled PET bottles, up to 85% less CO₂ than conventional vinyl) and as the world’s first EcoCD.
The EcoCD is made from 90% recycled polycarbonate sourced from post-consumer waste streams. This reduces material-related CO₂ emissions by at least 78% and avoids the production of more than 5 tonnes of new plastic.
In this way, we combine the highest quality with genuine circular economy principles – providing the industry with a truly sustainable alternative.
